Betty Marie Linton

d. March 27, 2012

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Betty Marie Linton passed away peacefully on March 27, 2012. She has ended her earthly journey and is now with the Lord. A native of Jackson County, she lived most of her life in Marianna and Lake City, Florida. She was a faithful and loving wife to her husband, Robert Franklin Linton, for almost sixty-eight years until his death in 2007. Also, she was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Linton was born on February 14, 1922, and recently celebrated her ninetieth birthday with her family. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking delicious meals and baking homemade cakes and pies. She remembered making her first cake when she was nine years old. While she stood on a stool, her grandmother guided her through the recipe. Her family will always treasure the memories of family meals together. In her earlier years, Betty bowled on a league and won many trophies. She made many beautiful quilts and each one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren has a quilt that was made especially for them. Also, she enjoyed making jelly and working with her plants and flowers. Truly, she was a person who loved to stay busy and her motto was "Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today." She had a great sense of humor and would make us laugh when she told all her family stories. Also, she enjoyed watching game shows and her favorite was "Wheel of Fortune." Since she was an excellent speller, she was a good puzzle solver. She loved to keep in touch and she continued writing letters and sending cards until the end of her life. Her birthday was always a special event because she received so many cards from those who loved her. Betty loved her friends and family with all her heart. Her home was always open to anyone who wanted to drop by for a visit. The simple things in life brought her happiness and joy. We will greatly miss her each day, but the love and memories will live on forever. Survivors include on son, Robert Lamar Linton; one daughter, Frankie Linton Stewart; four grandchildren, Suzanne Stewart Owens and husband, Terry; Robert Christopher Linton and wife, Brandi; Daleann Linton Worthington and husband, Doyle; Jerrette Lamar Linton and wife, Frankie; and eight great-grandchildren, Robert Chaseton Owens, Reagan Michelle Linton, Chloe Madison Linton, Trevor Hayes Linton, Doyle Elton Worthington III, Anna-Marie Worthington, Taylor Denise Linton and Lucus Jerrette Linton.
