Betty Sue Harris

March 21, 1944 — May 3, 2024

Betty Sue Harris was born on March 21, 1944, at Jackson County Hospital in Marianna, Florida. On May 3, 2024, at the age of 80, Betty left us to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Betty is joined in death by her husband, Tommy; and preceded in death by her parents, HC & Lula Williams; and eight brothers and sisters, Frances, Herbert, Sarah, Harry, Margaret, Edward, Peggy and Rayburn. She is survived by her older brother, Hank Williams.

Although the baby of her large family, Betty was always the one looking out for the best interest of others. Betty graduated Marianna High School in 1962, starting her career in accounting and finance as a bank teller shortly thereafter. In 1964, Betty married the love of her life, Tom Harris, and they would go on to celebrate 59 wonderful years together, ultimately passing within just days of one another. Always together and always supportive of Tommy’s art and art students, the saying “behind every good man is a great woman” would be an understatement when it came to Betty.

Betty had a full life with many diverse interests. She was an expert with a .22 rifle and enjoyed collecting numerous wood and handmade cloth dolls that were made around WWII and prior to 1945. She worked her way up the corporate ladder at a local casket company, ultimately handling all day to day financials. Betty and Tom always opened their house to all, whether rescuing countless animals over the years or as a refuge for those displaced after the Vietnam War, even fostering young Vietnamese children that had nowhere else to go.

When God created Betty Harris, he knew the impact she would have on countless lives.  We miss you greatly and look forward to the day we are reunited!
