James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Betty Jane Bryan of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, died May 7, 2014. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, May 20, 1923 to Florrie Wilkes Bryan and George Ward Bryan. During her early years, she lived in Adel, Georgia. She graduated from North Avenue Presbyterian School in Atlanta, attended Wesleyan Conservatory in Macon, Georgia and Marjorie Webster Jr. College, Washington, D.C., and graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee and Inter American University in San German, Puerto Rico. She later pursued a teaching career with the Department of Defense Dependants School system with assignments to schools in Puerto Rico, Germany, Japan, Korea and Okinawa, which afforded her opportunities for extensive foreign travel. Upon retirement in 1991, she resided in Atlanta until her move to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2007. She is survived by her brother, George Bryan and sister-in-law, Nancy Bryan of Fort Collins, Colorado; nephews, Josh and Wilkes Bryan; daughters-in-law, Mary Jo Bryan and Liz Ortega of Atlanta, Georgia. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marianna, Florida. Graveside funeral services will be at 1 pm, CST, Friday, May 16, 2014 with burial in the family plot in the Greenwood, Florida Baptist Church Cemetery.
