James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel 4278 Lafayette Street Bette-Jean Moore of Marianna died Tuesday, 27 May 2014 after a long illness in Port St. Joe. Bette was a loving Christian woman who enjoyed playing games; embroidering gifts; lunching with friends over her delicious egg salad; and spending time with the youth. She was a dedicated grandmother and best friend to her daughters. She was known for always sending cards and letters to her friends and family and was especially known for her famous fudge. Bette was loved by many and will be sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Dorothy Woodard and her half-sister, Paula. Bette is survived by her daughters Paula-Jean Moore Acker and her husband, Michael of Salem, AL and Sarah-Jane Moore Pope and husband Robert of Panama City, FL; three grandsons, Aaron Acker, Lance and Carson Pope; two sisters Toni Horn of Booneville, MS and Jo Ellen Jacobs of Hoisington, KS; half-sister Ruth Ann of California and half-brother Bruce of New Hampshire. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2014 at Lovedale Baptist Church with Rev. Cliff Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Lovedale Baptist Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will recieve friends from 5-7 p.m.. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Arthritis Foundation or American Cancer Institute.
