Bernice Mae Sexton

March 25, 1936 — September 6, 2014

Bernice Mae Burns Bamburg Sexton a native of Sneads died Saturday, September 6, 2014. She was preceded in death by a son, William "Buddy" Bamburg; her parents, Johnny and Louise Young Burns. Mrs. Sexton was a homemaker who loved gardening and visiting with family and friends. She was a devout Christian and a member of The First Baptist Church of Sneads. Survivors include her children, Ellen Shaw and husband Ricky of Greenwood, Jackie Wilkinson and husband Roger, Jerry Bamburg and wife LaWanda and Johnny Bamburg all of Sneads. Grandchildren, Cassie Ridley, DeWayne Shaw, Nikki Shaw, Jessica Goodson, Joey Wilkinson, Kyle Wilkinson, Jessica Wilkinson, Jerry Bamburg II, Tabitha Jackson, Marissa Jackson, Kendra Jackson and Dylon Jackson; great grandchildren, Tritton Whiddon, Payton Rose, Kimber Bates, Taylor Blighton, Tucker Wilinson, Tyson Wilkinson, Kylie Wilkinson, Brandon Wilkinson and Ava Wilkinson; brothers and sisters, Lucille Sexton and Ouida Baxley both of Havana, FL, Helen Estes of Attapolgus, GA, Rufus Burns of Grand Ridge, Joyce Medley of Sneads and Royce Burns of Grand Ridge; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Monday, September 8, 2014 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Juno Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Dellwood with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until funeral time at Maddox Chapel, Monday, September 8, 2014.
