Bernice Hall Grimes

Bernice Hall Grimes, 91, of Marianna, Florida died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at PruittHealth in Tallahassee, Florida.

Upon graduation from Marianna High School she went to work for a local retail store as a bookkeeper.  From there to First Bank of Marianna, which began her 40 year career in the banking business.  Bernice was a long time member of First Assembly of God Church in Marianna.

Bernice proudly supported and served her church faithfully.  Her passion for service began in her teenage years, teaching Sunday School for three and four year olds.

Through the years her service to the church included: Youth Director, Secretary/Treasurer of the church, Adult Bible Study teacher, Better Years Fellowship leader, along with teaching a Sunday School Class at Dozier School for Boys.  She dearly loved the Lord and had a passion for reading and studying the Bible.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Grimes; parents; Ellie Hall and Ola Medlock Hall; brothers, Lynwwod Pumphrey of Panama City, Henry Lee Hall of Marianna, and Roger Hall, of Pensacola.

Bernice is survived by nephews, Stephen Hall and Todd Hall, both of Pensacola, and Lavon Pumphrrey of Atlanta, GA; niece, Linda Ruth Ray of Panama City; sister-in-law, Murlene Vice; and special friends, Brenda Godwin and Earl Williams, both of Marianna, along with several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 3, 2020 at 2 PM at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.  Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
