Ben Hall

James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel Mr. Ben Hall of Malone, Florida, passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at SAMC. He was 83. Mr. Hall was born on October 3, 1928 in Malone, Florida, the son of the late Simon Ellis Hall and Ada Granger Hall. He was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church in Malone, where he held many offices including Training Union Director, Sunday School Teacher, Building Committee Chairman and served as an active Deacon since 1968. He loved his church family. Mr. Hall operated his farm north of Malone for 63 years. The Hall family was awarded Farm Family of the Year in 1982. Mr. Hall served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Foundation Seed Producers, was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Jackson County Farm Bureau, and was a member of the Jackson County Cattlemen's Association, Florida Peanut Producers Association, and Harmony Masonic Lodge. He was an honorary member of the Malone FFA Chapter and served on the Extension Advisory Committee. He was inducted into the University of Florida IFAS/NFREC Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2007. He and his family were recognized as a Florida Century Farm Family in 2002. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Clint Warren Hall; and a grandson, Cole Garrett. He was a cherished husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Carolyn Taylor Hall; son, Gregory Hall and wife, Linda, of Malone; daughters, Anita Garrett and husband, Frank of Ozark; Lila Hayes and husband, Danny of Dothan; grandchildren, Steven Hall and wife, Tiffany of Tallahassee; Ragan Hayes Whittington and husband, Kyle of Birmingham; Clay Garrett of Birmingham; Stacey Hall Livingston and husband, Joseph of Dothan; and Hayden Hayes of Dothan; a great-granddaughter, Anna Beth Livingston of Dothan. He is also survived by his sisters, Eunice Williams of Malone and Flora Askew of Grangerburg, Alabama; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be at 10 A.M. Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Friendship Baptist Church Malone with Revs. Gary French and Van Clack officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing. The family will receive friends Friday, June 8, from 5-7 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 5507 Friendship Church Road, Malone, FL.
