Barbara Carol Strickland

Barbara Carol Strickland, 85 of Crawfordville, Florida entered Glory peacefully on October 17, 2024. She was born on November 29, 1938, in Zainesville, Ohio to Gene and Laura McDowell. She was the middle child of her family with an older brother and sister, as well as a younger brother and sister. She was blessed with two step-siblings, and a wonderful, loving stepfather, Lawrence Roof.

She was a believer in Jesus Christ, and a member of Whiddon Lake Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Laura Roof; her loving husband of 33 years, Leroy Strickland; brother, David McDowell, sister, Phyllis Wallace; sons, Gary and Michael Strickland, and many other loved ones.

Barbara, who many called “Grammy” was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.

She had a spunky personality, a good sense of humor, and a full-loving heart, by proof of her caregiving to so many as their health failed before their deaths.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Gene Strickland (Abby) of Marianna, and Danny Strickland (Sherry) of Panama City. She was blessed with 11 amazing grandchildren; Laura, Cindel, Gary Jr., David, Taylor, Kyle, Carson, Harley, Hayden, Ethan and Kaitlyn; and eight great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law, and friends of her children.

Graveside service will be 10 AM (EDT) Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Whiddon Lake Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until the time of service. 

The family requests flowers be omitted but donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimers Project, 2344 Centerville Road, Suite 105, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
