Annie Wanda Suggs, 82, of Malone died Friday, December 22, 2023, at Jackson Hospital. Annie Wanda was born to Winson Pyne and Ida Louise Lockstead Baxter on January 11, 1941, in Malone, Florida. She was married to Dan William Suggs over 47 years before his death and was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, living in Malone most of her life. She was known to her friends and family as Wanda.
Wanda spent her working career in retail. She was the manager for the Tom Thumb Convenience Store in Malone for over 20 years. She enjoyed her customers who came to shop and visit and she always knew what was happening in town. Wanda enjoyed reading her Bible and discussing it with church members that would stop by and visit, In recent years when her health declined, she moved to The Courtyard in Marianna, FL where she lived for the last six years.
She was very talented and loved quilting, drawing and painting. Wanda enjoyed word searches and jigsaw puzzles. Her favorite pastime was fishing with her husband, Dan at River Styx. She was a great gardener and cook. You never left her table hungry.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Dan, her parents, Winson and Ida Baxter; one brother, Winson Lamar Baxter; and two sisters, Martha Louise Danforth and Brenda Joyce Boutin.
She is survived by her son, Dan Michael Suggs and wife, Jeanne; grandsons, Dan Allen and Matthew Skylar Suggs all of Marianna; one brother, Larry Daniel Baxter (Rachel) of Malone; two sisters, Mary Alice Horn of Grain Valley, MO, and Emma Ruth Steward (John) of Malone; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, December 29, 2023, at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Chris Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in Collins Chapel Baptist Cemetery in Malone with James & Sikes Funeral Homes Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service, Friday, December 29, 2023, at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
