James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel 4278 Lafayette Street Marianna, Florida 32446 850-482-2332 Annie Mae Barber Gainer, 94, of Cottondale, died Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Flowers Hospital. She was the daughter of A. J. and Annie Barber who were one of the pioneer families of Cottondale and Jackson County. Mrs. Gainer was a devout Christian and a member of Damascus Free Will Baptist Church in Marianna, with close association to the congregation of St. John's Free Will Baptist Church in Bonifay. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great- great- grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 52 years, Robert Brooks Gainer, her son, Kenneth Wade Gainer; her parents; four brothers, Harvey, Marvin, Roy and Coy Barber. Survivors include children, Robert J. (Bob) Gainer and wife Joan, Barbara Elmore and husband James all of Cottondale, Sarah Gainer Bundy of Bonifay; one sister, Eva Barber Gilbert and a daughter- in- law Catheleen Gainer of Tampa; Grandchildren, Jeff Gainer and wife Marsha of Columbus, Ga.. Keith and Kim; Mic and Karen Gainer all of Cottondale, Henry Gainer and wife Rocelle of Knoxville, Tn., Jennifer Gainer Valdes of Alexandria, Va., Annie Gainer Gilsson and Bill Glisson of Valrico, Fl, Alison and Glen Williams and Emily and Michael Gable of Marianna, Joanna and Charlie Burnham of Bonifay and Kenneth Brackett of Birmingham, Al.; Great Grandchildren, Christon and Bryan Lungsford of Auburn, Al., Shawn and Tracey Benton and Cara and Shane Humphries of Columbus Ga., Michael Gainer of Tallahassee, Cody, Tori, Buck, Beth and Caleb Gainer of Cottondale, Krissa Tice and Eddie Rushing of Cottondale, Kenneth Aaron and Henry Allen Valdes of Alexandria, Va. Kevin Gainer of Knoxville, Tn, Natalee and Grant Williams and Chris Gable of Marianna; Great-great grandchildren, Alexia Benton of Columbus Ga. and Stephanie Daniels of Cottondale. Funeral services will be conducted 2 pm Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Damascus Free Will Baptist Church with Revs. Odis Whitehead and Charles Powell officiating, burial will follow at Cottondale Baptist Cemetery, James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Saturday, November 3, 2007 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
