Anita Scamihorn Plass died Thursday, June 23, 2016. She was 65 years old. Born in Terre Haute, IN on August 24, 1950, she was the daughter of E. Leon Scamihorn and Clara Richardson Scamihorn.
Anita grew up in Greenwood, FL and in February 1975, married an upstate NY farmer. She and Bob lived in NY for many years while he worked on the family farm and she ran a nursery school in the basement of their family home. In 1985, they left for warmer weather and landed in Marianna where they raised their three girls.
Anita enjoyed working in the medical office field for many years and eventually returned to the classrooms of Jackson County where she retired as a paraprofessional. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, collecting movies, and helping Bob with his trailer and landscaping business.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years Robert William Plass, Jr; her parents; her brothers Marvin Scamihorn and Gerald Clark; and three sisters Ellen Hench, Pam Boutwell, and Phyllis Rulz.
She is survived by three daughters; Rebecca Plass Oden and husband Tramaine of Fort Drum, NY, Summer Plass-Arnold of Marianna, FL, Jennifer Plass of Aspen, CO, four grandchildren; Nicholas, Brannin, Jocelyn and Olivia; her dear friend Janice Adkins; and her beloved chihuahua Polly Pocket.
She is also survived by a sister: Lisa Scamihorn Palmer and husband Bill of Laurens, SC; two brothers Calvin Scamihorn and wife Linda of Tallahassee, FL; and Randy Scamihorn and wife Debbie of Atlanta, GA and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A visitation with friends and family will be held Sunday, June 26, 2016 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at James and Sikes Funeral Home in Marianna, FL.
