Alcus Romaine Adkison, 84, of Marianna, Florida died Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Jackson Hospital.
He was born January 7, 1937 in Enterprise, Alabama to James and Ruby Adkison. In August of 1961 he married the love of his life, Betty Adkison and together they had three children.
He was a Bishop with The Church of God of Prophecy having pastored several churches in Florida; The Church of God of Prophecy in Leesburg, Ocala, Melbourne and Mascotte. He also pastored New Bayview Church of God of Prophecy in the Bethlehem community of Holmes County, The Church of God of Prophecy in Bonifay and The Church of God of Prophecy in Chipley.
Bishop Adkison and his wife were full time state Evangelist based in Marianna, Florida for a number of years. He then pastored The Church of God of Prophecy in Marianna. Bishop Adkison loved studying God's word and spending time with his family.
Alcus was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruby Adkison; son, William Randall “Randy” Adkison; siblings, Verina Sharp, Syble Turner, Myrtle Bethea, Ervin Adkison, and Wayne Adkison.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Adkison; daughter, Teresa Thurman (Charles), and son, Alcus Romaine Adkison, Jr. (Sandie) all of Marianna, Florida; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at New Bayview Church of God of Prophecy 1097 New Bayview Church Road, Bonifay, Florida with Revs. Ernest Dupree & William H. Hester officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Monday, September 27, 2021 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in Marianna.
