Agnes Cox Register

AGNES COX REGISTER of Cottondale, FL passed away on Friday, June 12, 2009 in Mechanicsville, VA, where she had lived for 3 years with her daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, S.E. (Zeke) Register, Jr.; her parents, D.L. and Carl Y. Cox; brother û Daniel L. Cox, Sr.; sisters û Hazel C. Green and Anna Lou Cox. She is survived by her loving family: daughter û Dalphna R. Giles, Mechanicsville VA; sons - S.E. (Buddy) Register III (Peggy), Cottondale FL and Perry E Register, Sr., LaVergne TN; 6 granddaughters û Cindy Howell (David), Glen Allen VA, Tammie Carroll (Robin), Mechanicsville VA, Lisa Cutchins, Slocomb AL, Paige Register, Redwood City CA, Dalphna Register-Bunch (Shannon), Winter Haven FL, Leslie Emme (Michael), LaVergne TN; 3 grandsons û Perry E. Register, Jr. (Cindy), Cooper City FL, Phillip Register (Sharon û deceased), Davie FL, and Alan Golden (Deeanna), Marianna FL; 13 great granddaughters, 13 great grandsons, 1 great-great granddaughter and 1 great-great grandson; 1 brother-in-law, 5 sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. She was very active in the Cottondale school system while her children attended from 1st through 12th grades serving as substitute teacher, PTA member, classroom mother/chaperone, and anywhere she was needed. She was a Red Cross First Aid instructor (1953-1973), 1st full-time City Clerk for Cottondale (1955-1957), Secretary for the Graham Air Base Credit Union (1957-1960), and bookkeeper for West Florida Equipment Co. in Marianna (1960-1975). She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church Cottondale, Eastern Star in Marianna, Daughters of the Nile in Panama City, and Jackson County AARP Widowed Person Service in Marianna. Family visitation will be held at James & Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Funeral will be held at James & Sikes Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 10:00 AM with burial in Cottondale Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, she requested that contributions be made to your favorite church or charity.
